About the challenge

Loohacks is a 48-hour in-person hackathon taking place from November 27–29, 2026, at the Spur Innovation Centre in Waterloo. Hosted by the AWS Student Builder Group at Wilfrid Laurier University, the event targets 300 registrations and brings together students and builders from across the Waterloo region.

Requirements

What to Build

Hackers are challenged to build innovative, practical solutions focusing on real-world logistics and supply chain problems. Because logistics is inherently a cloud-driven field, teams are encouraged to leverage modern data pipelines, IoT, and machine learning.

Starting challenge tracks include:

  • Supply Chain: Optimizing end-to-end movement, visibility, and efficiency.

  • Warehouse: Streamlining warehouse operations, inventory management, and fulfillment.

  • Trucking: Enhancing fleet routing, tracking, and transportation logistics.

  • Product Line: Innovating around product manufacturing, distribution, and lifecycle lines.

  • Sponsored Tracks: Special challenge tracks and prize pools provided by partners (such as the AWS-sponsored track).

What to Submit

  • Project Details & Overview: A clear, concise description of the problem you are solving and how your solution works.

  • Prototype / Demo Link: A working demonstration, video link (YouTube/Vimeo), or GitHub repository showcasing your code and functionality.

  • Tech Stack Documentation: A breakdown of the technologies used, noting any cloud services, data pipelines, or specific platforms (such as AWS) integrated into your build.
